Hammer Comes Down

James Dixons Hammer Comes Down was formed in 2002 and created an underground storm on the internet with heavy music fans alike. The band consists of James Dixon (Vocals/Bass Guitars/Producer/Percussion/Organ/Rhythm, Lead and Acoustic Guitars), Brian Wright (Lead Vocals/Rhythm and Lead Guitars) and Gregg Marsh (Vocals/Drums and Percussion). With the line-up cemented in 2002, the band began creating music, with musical influence from the musical spectrum far and wide, most noticeably Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Tool, Helmet, Alice In Chains and Metallica.

The bands dark Sabbath-esk sound proved popular after a few years of touring and writing material the band relocated to Birmingham in late 2005 to start the recording of there debut album, however within just a few weeks of entering the studio, James Dixon suffered a seriously spine and shoulder shoulder injury, hindering Hammer Comes Down future and placing the band on hiatus for the foreseeable future. James underwent three months of rehabilitation and extensive physiotherapy to repair the damages done and with Brian and Gregg's help was well enough to able to start playing music again. James rejoined Hammer Comes Down and although the band was unable to play live or tour due to James injuries they re-entered the studio continuing record of the debut album in mid 2006. With James back on board, the band took a new creative direction adding new elements, instruments and influences to there music in which, none of the band members talents are inaudible.

Hammer Comes Down are frequently compared to there influence Tool for refusing to let music take a secondary position to image. The band shy away from media, promotions and publication and let there music do the talking, refusing to put any image of the band itself apart from them playing there instruments on there website or merchandise as well releasing music solely through there official website making no profit, rather than a record label. With the band currently in the studio working on there debut album, Hammer Comes Down will surely have an impact on UK Music over the next year.
